The Village provides independent living in 16 cottages for 96 adults with intellectual disabilities. Residents develop life skills while enjoying autonomy within the secure Marbridge campus.

About The Village

The Village offers independent and semi-independent living for up to 96 adults with intellectual disabilities in 16 upscale cottages. Residents are encouraged to make proactive choices that challenge and improve their life skills, social skills, leisure and recreation skills as well as their work skills.

Residents who live in The Village independent cottages enjoy a high degree of autonomy, yet still benefit from the highly supervised and safe environment of the Marbridge community.

The program emphasizes autonomy while maintaining a supervised, safe, and supportive environment within the Marbridge community. Residents living in The Village’s cottages experience a high level of personal responsibility and freedom, balanced with staff presence and access to campus-wide resources that ensure safety, consistency, and quality of life.

Amenities & Services

Village residents enjoy their private room within a six bedroom, three bath cottage with a shared living area and kitchen stocked with appliances. Village residents also have 24-hour awake staff, nursing services, and ongoing skills training and educational opportunities. Residents work on their goals through Individualized Program Plans that include opportunities in job skills, Special Olympics, and more.

Staff & Support

Residents are expected and encouraged to make informed, proactive choices that strengthen essential life skills, social engagement, leisure and recreational participation, and vocational readiness. The Village is designed for individuals who are capable of functioning independently in daily living while benefiting from guidance, oversight, and structured programming.

Amenities & Services

  • Private room in a 6-bedroom, 3-bath cottage

    Basic furniture is provided, and residents are also able to bring their own and decorate as they wish. There is a cozy living area and kitchen equipped with appliances (that may be turned on or off based on the residents’ abilities.)

  • 24-hour awake staff

    Our 24-hour awake staff are here to help residents through supervision, guidance, and support. They also have the ability to utilize nursing and medical drivers for health issues.

  • Basic Nursing Care

    The Village has a full-time Registered Nurse within their community along with a Medical team that provides care when needed. Resident Families also have the ability to continue using their providers with coordination by The Village nursing team and medical drivers.

  • Individual Program Plan

    The Village team, along with the residents and their families, build out Individual program Plans to help each individual work towards and achieve goals they create. These range from educational, physical, social, spiritual, and financial goals.

  • T&E

    Residents participate in daily classes to further their education along with physical fitness classes to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Residents are also given the opportunity to compete in Special Olympics sports through our T&E Program.

  • Employment opportunities on and off campus

    Residents who express interest in employment, either on or off-campus, can do so through Job Skills classes and the assistance of two full-time Resident Employment Coordinators.

  • Access to supervised community centers

    Including the Chapel, swimming pool, and Victory Hall, Marbridge’s state-of-the-art athletic facility and wellness center.

What are the eligibility requirements to live at The Village?

  • Residents must be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a primary diagnosis of developmental delay or cognitive challenge, including autism spectrum, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Williams Syndrome
  • Independent in activities of daily living
  • Able to ambulate and transfer independently
  • Able to follow a schedule of training and activity
  • Free of aggressive or threatening behaviors; no serious psychiatric or mental health conditions

What does pricing look like for a place in The Village?

$4,475 per month includes all amenities and programs listed in the Amenities & Services section above.

What expenses are not included in the tuition cost?

Residents’ personal spending for shopping, outings, travel, etc. and any medical expenses not covered by an insurance carrier are not included in the tuition cost and are an additional cost.

Can Social Security, disability, or veteran benefits be applied toward tuition?

If a resident receives a monthly benefit income from Social Security, disability, or veteran benefits, those funds may be applied directly to the monthly tuition and the family/sponsor will be responsible for the remaining balance.

Can a resident’s employment income be used to help pay tuition?

If employment is appropriate for the resident’s needs and abilities, funds earned through on-campus or off-campus employment opportunities may also be applied toward the tuition balance.

Is your program licensed?

Yes, The Village is licensed by THHS as a Type A Assisted Living community.

Where do the residents live?

In cottages that consist of 3 2-person suites for a total of 6 residents. The cottages have a shared living room, a dining area, a laundry room, medication room, and a guest bathroom.

Can you describe a typical Village resident?

An individual with IDD who has a higher level of independence, initiative, accountability and social maturity.

What is the staffing level?

Staff to resident ratio is 1:30 depending on shift intervals, with 24-hour alert & available supervision.

Do you provide a Shuttle service for transportation?

We have a fleet of vehicles at Marbridge with dedicated team members to safely transport residents to/from destinations. There is mileage reimbursement for routine trips and service fees for specific assisted trips like medical appointments, airport travel, etc.

What are the cottage expectations?

Residents will manage self-care, household chores, follow semester schedule, and be respectful of personal and physical boundaries.

Do your residents cook?

We have a licensed and registered dietitian and dietary crew that provides three meals and a snack daily. Residents can participate in cooking training and keep healthy snacks and drinks in their cottages, but they do not prepare their own meals.

Can you accommodate special diets?

We can accommodate gluten-free, low carb, and diabetic diet plans.

What do the residents do?

Residents participate in tri-semester based training and enjoy weekly and monthly social offerings, both on and off campus, including seasonal Special Olympic sports.

Can I pick up my loved one?

Yes, whether it is for a holiday, a family trip, or a home visit during one of our semester breaks, residents are able to enjoy time away with approved family and friends.

Do you allow romantic relationships?

While we encourage positive and friendly relationships across our campus, we do not offer private or individual spaces for romantic relations. We want our residents to feel safe and comfortable and to be respectful of the personal and social boundaries of others.
